An Update on the Class of 1958
Some facts to share on this the 50th anniversary of our graduation from HHS:
Fact #1 of 212 grads in ‘58, 96% entered college and 91% graduated with one or more degrees!!!!
6 went 20 or more years in the military, 2 gaining "flag rank" or better in several branches of the military;
22 went on to become educators;
12 went on to hold national honors in their career fields;
92 had 3 or more children, 88 are grandparents as of 2008; 36 are divorced; 35 have died or are otherwise ill;
37 live within 14 miles of HHS; the balance live hundreds of miles away and several in Europe and Asia.
Do not let the 2008 grads think for a moment that HHS hasn't played a role in their lives or won't!
It is significant to note that in these times where Nashville public education is being blamed for the ills of the world, your/our school remains at the very top of this nation's achievers, most of which comes from the superior education at HHS, the quality teachers, etc. HHS is rich in history and of "mission accomplished".
I am happy and fortunate to be alive and well on the 50th anniversary of my graduation from the school.
Best wishes, Colonel William White, (ret'd) United States Marine Corps, a graduate (1959) of HHS, Vanderbilt U, U of Md. and a candidate for PhD.

Alumni, parents, and community friends have been very helpful over the last year. Over $26,000 were raised through fund-raising efforts! This money was used to improve technology at our school, to purchase classroom supplies not funded by Metro, to establish a Hillsboro foundation, and to begin to fund the International Baccalaureate program at Hillsboro. If you are interested in any fund-raising or volunteering activities, contact the Alumni and Community Development Committee . |
