Jim received a BS degree in Education from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1971.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude from East Tennessee State with a BS in Art in 1976. In 1977 he was awarded Runner-up for his news photograph of  flood evacuation in the United Press International Tennessee photography competition. Jim has been creating and capturing photographs for over forty years.  His photography has been published in numerous national publications including USA-Today and Sports Illustratred.  He has taught potography at East Tennessee State, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi University for Women, and Watkins College of Art.  He was a speaker at the International Association of Professional Event Photographers in 2004 and 2005 and was appointed to their Board of Advisors for 2005.  He held the office of President, of the Tennessee Chapter, of the American Society of Media Photographers from 2000-2005. This is Jim's eleventh year teaching with MNPS and his third year teaching at Hillsboro.
