Our School

J . E. Moss Elementary School is an ethnically diverse, Title I school located in Antioch, Tennessee. Located at the corner of Bowfield Drive and Richards Road, the school opened its doors in the fall of 1988 to relieve the overcrowded student population of Cole, Lakeview, and Una Elementary schools. The community we serve has moved from predominantly white in 1988 to an overwhelming amount of ethnic diversity. We have over 30 countries represented and more than 20 different languages spoken among our students and their respective families.

J. E. Moss Elementary School was name after Jewett Edgar Moss, who was county school superintendent for Davidson County. Mr. Moss served as a coach and principal prior to his tenure as district superintendent.

Students in Kindergarten throught Fourth grade are regularly engaged in the school board adopted standards-based curritulum. We use the state framework of objectives in all subject areas.

Use of the 25-pc computer lab reinforces and enriches student learning and achievement through the use of such programs as Accelerated Reader, ThinkLink, Star Learning, Compass Learning and keyboarding classes.

Balanced Literacy, Hands-on Science, STC kits, after-school tutoring and community volunteers all serve to create a learning environment where no child will be left behind.
