Students

Croft Middle School serves students in grades 5, 6, 7, and 8.  Middle schoolers come in all shapes, sizes, and maturity levels.  Each student is unique, and at Croft we celebrate the many cultures and experiences of our students.  We strive to maintain a positive atmosphere where students can learn in a variety of ways.

We have high expectations for our students at Croft.  Students are expected to practice our Croft Cougar Code of Conduct at all times:

CROFT COUGAR CODE OF CONDUCT
As a Croft Cougar, I believe everyone is connected to each
other and to the environment, is capable of learning, and is able to contribute to the world around us. Therefore I will:

  • Take responsibility for my choices and accept the consequences.
  • Respect everyone and everything.
  • Promote a positive, safe environment.
  • Come to school prepared to learn.
  • Promote teaching and learning for all.

We believe strongly that adhering to our Code of Conduct will produce capable, effective citizens for our world in the years to come.

Student Evaluation
Teachers at Croft find as many ways as possible for students to learn and be successful.  Authentic assessment is necessary to ensure that the work that is prepared for students is appropriate and relevant. Students have a variety of abilities, skills, and interests.  We feel that students should be graded upon the quality of their best efforts.

Equity and Excellence
All students have an equal right to learn.  Effective teachers recognize that each child arrives in their classrooms equipped somewhat differently to utilize this right.  For some, academic learning comes easily, while for others it is more difficult.  Our teachers utilize their skills and experiences to tailor instruction to custom-fit each child.
