Transportation--Dropping Off & Picking Up Students
Important Information for Parents Who Provide Transportation for Students
Again this year at our school, busses will be loading and unloading students each morning and afternoon at the front entrance of our building. All privately operated vehicles dropping off students in the morning or picking up students at the end of the school day should do so at the entrance of the school by the gym. Please read the following details that will ensure the safety of your child during these transition times.
At the beginning of the day:
For the safety of your child, please pull forward as close to the STOP SIGN as possible and disembark your passengers along the right curb. Failure to pull forward limits the number of vehicles that can unload at one time and slows the process for everyone behind you.
Children dropped off on the left side of the driveway at this time of day are forced to cross in front of traffic and are being placed in jeopardy. Do not park vehicles at this curb. If you need to come into the building, park in the lot at the end of the football/soccer field.
First period begins at 8:55 a.m. this year. Students dropped off later than 8:50 a.m. will find it difficult to arrive at class on time and may be marked tardy. All exterior doors will be secured by 8:55 a.m. Students arriving after that must be brought to the front entrance and signed in late by their driver.
At Dismissal:
Be sure whenever possible that students know who is picking them up and the type of vehicle they should be looking for. Drivers picking up students at the regular dismissal time are asked not to arrive at the school before 3:30 p.m. Upon arrival, select one of the two lines and pull up as far as possible and turn your engine off to preserve our environment and your gas.
Students will be dismissed at 3:55 p.m.; the cars will be released at 4:00 p.m. Vehicles NOT Boarded at that time may either pull out and park in the lot at the end of the football/soccer field or proceed with the other cars to circle the field and return to the pickup line. Do not abandon your vehicle to search for your child. Abandoned vehicles blocking dismissal may be ticketed by our Metro School Resource Officer.
In the event a student needs to be picked up prior to dismissal, they may be signed out at the main office anytime before 3:20 p.m. For traffic flow and safety reasons no students will be dismissed from school between 3:15 and 3:45 p.m. Call the office at 332-0217 if you need any clarification on these procedures.
Thank you for your cooperation! Your child's safety is our utmost concern.
