Croft's Athletic Department has kicked off its annual Cookie Dough Sale! The sale began on November 4 and runs through November 19. All proceeds go to support the Croft Athletic Department and Physical Education.  Prizes for students include:

Sell 2 Items...Candy from the Candy Store
Sell 6 Items...Get out of class and go to a pizza and coke party
Sell 12 Items...Win a movie pass and participate in the Water Balloon Toss (and win up to $50!) (plus above)
Sell 18 Items...Choice of playing the Wheel of Fortune or getting a strobe light (plus above)
Sell 30 Items...Choice of Jump for George or Sensor Light Tree (plus above)
Sell 45 Items...MP3 Player (plus above)
Sell 75 Items...Choice of Memorex 3 CD Player or Wrex the Dawg (plus prizes 1 thru 5)
Sell 125 Items...Choice of iPod Nano or Nintendo DSi (plus prizes 1 thru 5)

Checks should be made payable to Croft Middle School and remember to add .75 per item sales tax. Delivery will be before the winter break.

Get your SSA approved Croft jacket! These jackets are fleece and display the Croft logo. They come in black, navy, and gray, and possibly will become available in green. They sold like hotcakes last year so reserve yours today!

Health Watch: Alerts

Is it a Cold or the Flu?


Symptoms:

Cold
  • Fever - rare in adults and older children, but can be as high as 102`F in infants and small children
  • Headache - Rare
  • Muscle Aches - Mild
  • Tiredness and Weakness - Mild
  • Extreme Exhaustion - Never
  • Runny Nose - Often
  • Sneezing - Often
  • Sore Throat - Often
  • Cough - Mild hacking cough
Flu
  • Fever - Usually 102`F. but can go up to 104`F and usually lasts 3 to 4 days
  • Headache - Sudden onset and can be severe
  • Muscle Aches - Usual, and often severe
  • Tiredness and Weakness - Often extreme, and can last two or more weeks
  • Extreme Exhaustion - Sudden onset and can be severe
  • Runny Nose - sometimes
  • Sneezing - Sometimes
  • Sore Throat - Sometimes
  • Cough - Usual, and can become severe
When to Stay at Home: You should not send your child to school if she/he has any of the following:
  • Fever: temperature above 100`F (taken by mouth).
  • Diarrhea: any watery stools not contained in under clothes.
  • Vomiting: Throwing up
  • Rash: Covering entire body.
When your child has these symptoms they must be kept at home a full 24 hours without symptoms before returning to school.

Feed Your Vocabulary and Feed the World!

How many times have I sat and wondered, "how can I combine my love for vocabulary and do something truly good for mankind?" Well the truth be told, never! However, someone else has! At www.freerice.com , you can learn new words and feed hungry people around the world.



FreeRice has two goals: 1) Provide English vocabulary words to everyone for free and 2) help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free through the United Nations World Food Program.
