Jane Norris (and Tigger!)--Physical Education
Greetings ~ my name is Jane Norris and I am one of the Croft physical education teachers. This is my sixth year of teaching and every year has been a fabulous experience. I feel very fortunate to be a part of such a great staff here at Croft.
I had a wonderful childhood growing up in Owensboro, Kentucky, which is about two hours northwest of Nashville. I still go back to visit my dear parents, and yes, I am a huge University of Kentucky basketball fan ~ Go Wildcats! During my school years I was a cheerleader and tennis player. Tennis became my favorite sport and it was instrumental in paying for part of college. I received a BS degree at the University of Central Oklahoma. After working in different occupational fields and being miserable, I decided to return to school for my teaching certification. I attended David Lipscomb University and received a Master’s degree in instructional education. I started my career in Metro at Head Magnet Middle School, and moved to Croft when the school opened in 2003.
The past three years I have coached girls’ track and I am currently enjoying coaching the girls’ soccer team. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my parents, playing tennis, golf, exercising, music, movies, and reading. I have a cute, energetic English Springer Spaniel named Estes and a Guinea Pig named Tigger Too, and they demand my full attention. The biggest part of my life is devoted to teaching and promoting my craft. I believe Physical Education gives me the opportunity to introduce and promote healthy choices and lifetime fitness options that will hopefully continue over the span of a student’s life.
