STATE CHAMPIONS!
Go Burros!

BURROS MAKE HISTORY
History was made by the Hillsboro High School football team in Murfreesboro, Tennessee last Saturday.  Hillsboro and Maryville staged a classic battle at MTSU stadium in one of the more memorable State Championship games in recent history.  Maryville came into the game sporting the nation's longest active winning streak at 74 games.  Hillsboro jumped on top to take a 7-0 lead in the first half.  Maryville came out in the third quarter and tied the score at 7-7.  The score remained tied and the two teams went back a forth until midway through the 4th quarter.  Hillsboro drove the ball down inside the Maryville 5 yard line.  On fourth down, they decided to go for the field goal.  In what proved to be the game winning score, G.R. Pulley snapped a perfect ball to Hendrix Brakefield who, as he has done all year, caught and placed the ball down for Jacob Noe, who then kicked the ball through the uprights and Hillsboro into the history books securing the 2008 4A State Championship while at the same time snapping the nation's longest winning streak.  The kick and the Burros hoisting the Championship trophy were highlighted on ESPN that night setting off a storm of unprecedented national media coverage for a high school final.  The win caps an incredible season filled with challenge and adversity.  Coach Blade and his staff have done a magnificent job preparing this team for its ultimate destiny.  This has truly been a season to remember for our 2008 Burro Football Team.
