Mr. Young is a 1974 graduate of Belmont University with a major in History and a minor in Business Administration. In 1974-75 he taught and coached at Ewing Park Junior High before returning to work at Belmont in the fall of 1975. He would spend 26 years at Belmont University working in administration for the Office of Admissions. In 1976 he started the Belmont University Cross Country and Track program and would serve as the head men’s and women’s coach for sixteen years.

In September 2002 Mr. Young joined the faculty of Hillsboro High School as a member of the Department of Social Studies. The vast majority of his classes have been United States History but he has also taught World Geography and World History. Since 2003 Mr. Young has also served as the Head Cross Country Coach and one of the Men’s and Women’s Head Track Coaches. During the 2005-06 season he also was the Varsity Men’s Basketball Coach.
