Pre-Kindergarten Programs

MNPS has two types of Pre-Kindergarten Programs: Regular Pre-Kindergarten classes and Blended Pre-Kindergarten classes.

Regular Pre-Kindergarten classes include:
1) locally funded Pre-Kindergarten classrooms;
2) State funded Pre-Kindergarten classrooms; and
3) Title I funded Pre-Kindergarten classroom.

Blended Pre-Kindergarten classes are designed for typical children and children with disabilities.

It is important to note that entrance requirements and/or fees may vary depending on which type of Pre-Kindergarten class a student is enrolled.

LOCAL PRE-KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOMS FOR 4 YEAR OLD CHILDREN
Your child must be 4 years old on or before September 30th of the current school year. Local funded Pre-Kindergarten classrooms are fee-basedFees are charged on a sliding scale.  Your child will be eligible to attend one of these schools based on the following:
1) when your child attends kindergarten and is zoned to a school that has Pre-Kindergarten in it;
2) if the parent or guardian of a child is an MNPS employee, if space is available;
3) children residing in the cluster will be admitted, if space is available; and
4) Davidson County children will be admitted, if space is available.

Carter-Lawrence Napier
Charlotte Park Shwab
Glenview Whitsitt
Cora Howe

STATE AND *TITLE I PRE-KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOMS FOR 4 YEAR OLD PROGRAMS
Your child must be 4 years old on or before September 30th of the current school year
.  There are no fees for students enrolled in State and Title I funded Pre-Kindergarten classrooms.  State and Title I funded classrooms are located at the following school sites:

MNPS also has Pre-Kindergarten classrooms located in the following Community Agencies:

                        St. Luke Community Center (1)


BLENDED PRE-KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOMS FOR 3 AND 4 YEAR OLD CHILDREN
Your child must be 3 years old or 4 years old on or before September 30th of the current school year.  Blended Pre-Kindergarten classrooms are fee-based for typical peers.  Fees are charged on a sliding scale.
  Blended Pre-Kindergarten classes are designed for typical children and children with disabilities.  Spaces are limited.  Four-year-old typical peers will receive priority enrollment.  Three-year-old typical peers will be enrolled if space is available.  Three and four year old children with disabilities must enroll through the IEP process.

Your child will be eligible to enroll in one of the Blended classrooms based on the following:
1) when your child attends kindergarten and is zoned to a school that has pre-kindergarten in it;
2) if the parent or guardian of a child is an MNPS employee, if space is available;
3) children residing in the cluster will be admitted, if space is available; and
4) Davidson County children will be admitted, if space is available.
