James M. Head 1855 – 1930 Mr. Head was born in Summer County in 1855. He was educated at Harvard University Law School graduating in 1876. In 1881 he was elected to the lower house of the state legislature serving until 1884. He moved to Nashville became a member of the law firm Champion, Head, and Brown and married Nashville native Minnie Cherry. He served as the Mayor of Nashville from 1900 - 1903. He died in Boston on March 31, 1930.
Head Elementary School The original building located at Jo Johnson and 16th Avenue North was the first Head School Campus. It stood until 1954 when it was demolished to make space for the John Henry Hale Homes.
