Chadwell Elementary School opened in 1957 with an enrollment of 250 in grades 1-6 and a staff of 8.  The school was named for Ernest T. Chadwell, a former chairman of the Davidson County Board of Education.

The school has gone through a few additions throughout the last 50 years.  The school now has an enrollment of approximately 330 in grades pre-k through 4th and a staff of 40.

Chadwell School celebrated its 50th birthday with a reception on November 13, 2007.  Over 500 former students, families, faculty, and staff attended the event.
