Margaret Allen's Mission Statement

Margaret Allen's mission is that all students will be prepared to work independently and become productive citizens.  The mission will provide a clear purpose and direction that aligns policies and procedures to maintain a focus on achieveing the schools goals for student learning.  Academic course work will foster rigor, relevance and relationships so students will ultimately develop the ability to transition into the high school environment with the goal of graduation.

Our vision among staff and stakeholders through collaboration is to:

  • provide an enriching educational environment that instills a sense of curiousity toward the world-
  • develops a responsibility toward being stewards of the earth in a global community-
  • inspires a passion for excellence in all students-
  • ensures the development of an attitude of life-long learning that will awaken the human spirit of every child.

We Believe...

  • Cultural diversity can increase student understanding of different people and cultures.
  • We approach learning by seeking to understand each person's uniqueness and to guide student individually at their own pace, to achieve proficiency and beyond so they realize their potential.
  • As stake holders, we allow the school to engage in communication that brings education to life by utilizing teachers, administrators, parents, students and the community by sharing the responsibilities for advancing the school's mission into a high performing learning culture.
  •  The school must have a welcoming environment that makes the students feel comfortable and ready to learn.
  •  Student learning needs, based on research and data should be the primary focus of all decisions that impact the work at the school.
  •  Curriculum and instruction practices should incorporate a diversity of learning activities to accommodate differences in learning styles so that all students will receive a quality education.
  •  Promoting the use of data-driven process in decision making, instruction and assessments of student learning should provide students with a variety of opportunities to demonstrate their achievement of the expectations for their learning.
  •  Students learn to make appropriate decisions when given a supportive and challenging learning environment.
  •  We should have a commitment to continuous improvement that is imperative to enable students to become confident, self-directed, lifelong learners.
  •  The primary role of the adult as a teacher (Director or Directress) is to continually model and observe the general principle of education --"Follow the Child."
  •  In celebrating natural diversity in all areas and being a "common ground school," where all people respect the cultures and beliefs of others.
