Dear Parents and Students,

As adults, we will focus on: Creating a College-Going Culture….One Student at a Time. MNPS Middle College is a school of choice and we work diligently to prepare students for college the three years that they are with us. During the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade years, students are housed at Nashville State Community College as they finish their high school requirements and earn college credit at the same time. MCHS continues to provide tutorial and support services to students, while monitoring their performance at the college level.

I want to keep these facts from the Bureau of Labor Statistics in front of you:

A person with a Ph.D. earns an average of $1,214 a week.
A person with a master’s degree earns an average of $1,174 a week.
A person with a bachelor’s degree earns an average of $983 a week.
A person with an associate degree earns an average of $834 a week.
Unfortunately, a person with only a high school diploma earns an average of $507 a week.

If there is any doubt about the benefits of a college-going culture, the numbers above make the case and demonstrate the importance of a college education. We plan to continue the good work at MCHS, while at the same time blazing trails for others to follow. Listed below are some of the things we will do to create a college-going culture:

Provide an accelerated, college preparatory curriculum for each and every
student.
Educate students about college life and skills needed to be successful.
Provide visits to campuses and have guest speakers from colleges/universities.
    Provide leadership opportunities for students.
Engage and educate parents as it relates to college readiness and involvement in  our school
and at the college.

As the leader of MCHS, I will work collaboratively with all stakeholders to make our vision a reality.

Sincerely,

Roderick Manuel, Principal
