Some residents in the Maplewood cluster previously zoned to Amqui Elementary (Area 5-C2) will be reassigned to Chadwell Elementary. These families will still have the choice to attend Amqui, with transportation provided by the district. To accommodate this change, some students previously zoned to Chadwell (Areas 6- C and 6-D) will be reassigned to Tom Joy Elementary and some students will be reassigned to Stratton Elementary in the Hunters Lane cluster.
Shwab Elementary will get additional resources, including a lower pupil/teacher ratio of 15:1 in grades Pre-K - 3 and 20:1 in grade 4; and a guidance counselor to student ratio of 1:300. Other additional resources include the addition of a social worker and 5% differentiated pay for teachers, administrators and staff pending negotiations with the teachers’ union.
