The McGavock Cluster previously contained some noncontiguous (geographically separated) zones around Napier Elementary in which students were assigned to Ruby Major and Hickman Elementary Schools. Students in Area 7- B, previously assigned to DuPont Elementary, are now zoned to Amqui Elementary in the Hunters Lane cluster. Students in Area 7-E previously assigned to Andrew Jackson Elementary are now zoned to DuPont Elementary.
In addition, Napier Elementary is now designated as a zone school rather than a lottery school. Napier will receive additional resources, including a lower pupil/teacher ratio of 15:1 in grades Pre-K - 3 and 20:1 in grade 4; a guidance counselor to student ratio of 1:300; the addition of a social worker; and 5% differentiated pay for teachers, administrators and staff pending negotiations with the teachers’ union. The Napier zone includes areas previously zoned to Ruby Major, Hickman and McGavock elementary schools.
Also as part of the change to Napier, students attending Napier now feed into Two Rivers Middle, and Hermitage Elementary now feeds into Donelson Middle. Areas 7-C1 and 7-C2 now zoned to Napier, which were previously zoned to Ruby Major and Hickman, do have the choice to attend Hickman and Donelson Middle with transportation provided by the district.
