Before returning to Hume-Fogg as its new principal, Paul Fleming served as principal at Meigs Magnet Middle School and assistant principal at Martin Luther King Magnet School. From 1994 to 2003, he taught 9th grade Government, 10th grade World Studies, and a 12th grade Humanities courses at Hume-Fogg. He also chaired its Social Studies Department. In addition to his years at Nashville’s other two academic magnet schools, he has served on the faculty of the Governor’s School of International Studies, a one-month program for gifted high school students at the University of Memphis.
In December 2008, Kelly Harned filled in as interim assistant principal, finished his coaching career and now currently is the assistant principal. He is in his twentieth year as an educator at Hume-Fogg. He worked from 1981 to 1984 at Joelton Middle School, 1985 to 1986 in Fort Worth, Texas, returned in 1986 to 1990 at Stratford High School when he then came to Hume-Fogg High School. During his coaching career, he had an overall record of 220-280. He has lead teams to district championships in 1998 and 2002, runner-up in the district in 1994 and 2003, and runner-up in the region in 2006 and was voted the Coach of the Year in 1994, 1998, 2002, and 2006. While accumulating the team records, he has also had numerous players sign college scholarships to continue their education. |
