Pre-K Programs
Metro Nashville Public Schools has two types of Pre-Kindergarten Programs:
1. General Education Pre-Kindergarten classes 
2. Blended Pre-Kindergarten classes

General Education Pre-Kindergarten classes include:
  1. Locally funded Pre-Kindergarten classrooms;
  2. State funded Pre-Kindergarten classrooms; and
  3. Title I funded Pre-Kindergarten classroom.

Blended classes are designed for General Education (typical children) and children with disabilities.

It is important to note that entrance requirements and/or fees may apply and vary depending on income and which type of Pre-Kindergarten class a student is enrolled
Pre-K registration runs April 14-17.

Local Pre-Kindergarten Classrooms
To be eligible:

  • Your child must be four years old on or before August 15 of the current school year (This is an amended State Law)
  • Complete Pre-Kindergarten Application Packet.

Locally funded Pre-Kindergarten classrooms are fee-based. Fees are charged on a sliding scale.

  • Edison, Thomas
  • Green, Alex
  • Hull-Jackson

  • Pennington
  • Shayne 
  • Stanford
  • Whitsitt

Model Pre-Kindergarten Classrooms

To be eligible:

  • Your child must be four years old on or before August 15 of the current school year (This is an amended State Law)
  • Complete Pre-Kindergarten Application Packet

Model Pre-Kindergarten classrooms are located at the following school sites:

  • Bordeaux
  • Casa Azafran (new community site location)
  • Ross

Title I Funded Pre-Kindergarten Classrooms

 

To be eligible:

  • Your child must be four years old on or before August 15 of the current school year (This is an amended State Law).
  • Complete Pre-Kindergarten Application Packet.

Enrollment is based on the Developmental Screening Assessment and other at-risk factors.

Title I Funded classrooms are located at the following school sites:

  • Glenview
  • Haywood
  • Paragon Mills

State Funded Pre-Kindergarten Classrooms
To be eligible:

  • Your child must be four years old on or before August 15 of the current school year (This is an amended State Law).
  • Complete Pre-Kindergarten Application Packet.
  • Families must meet income guidelines

    If space is available after enrolling children who meet income guidelines, the program may enroll children who have other at risk factors.

    Blended Pre-Kindergarten Classrooms
    To be eligible:

  • Four years old on or before August 15 of the current school year (This is an amended State Law).
  • Complete Pre-Kindergarten Application Packet.

    Blended Pre-Kindergarten classes are designed for students with Individual Education Plans (IEP) and students without IEPs. Class sizes are typically smaller and seats are limited within Blended programs. Three and four-year-old children with an IEP will be placed through the Exceptional Education Department. Families of children without an IEP can apply at the individual school sites.

    Blended Pre-Kindergarten classrooms are fee-based for students without an IEP. Fees are charged on a sliding scale.
