Exceptional Education Family Advisory Council

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We need your help! Our school year has gotten off to a great start, but we want your involvement to ensure success. The Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools Department of Exceptional Education (formerly the Department of Special Education) is recruiting members for a new family advisory council. The Exceptional Education Family Advisory Council, EEFAC, will be comprised of family members and community partners, and will advise and assist on issues related to students with disabilities within MNPS.

Membership will consist of thirteen family members whose children have received exceptional education services, including families of students served at exceptional education day or contract programs. EEFAC will also include four community slots which may represent post secondary education, adult/transition services, early intervention and advocacy organizations. Whenever possible, each cluster and Board of Education district will be represented by an EEFAC family member. EEFAC membership should represent a broad diversity of disabilities, student age and cultures among the families MNPS serves. EEFAC will also maintain a resource pool of interested individuals.
