Tara Colwart--7th Grade Science and Geography
Hello my name is Tara Colwart! I am excited to begin teaching another year at Croft. I will be teaching science and social studies. This is my 13th year teaching, and I teach science. I love teaching science, and believe in teaching it with a great deal of experimentation and inquiry.
I am a native of Nashville. I actually grew up in the Crieve Hall area. I graduated from Overton High School in 1993 and from Union University in 1997. I loved that I get to teach in my "own backyard" so to speak..in the neighborhood in which I grew up. I have been married for almost 6 years, and I have a 3 year old son named Hezekiah Luke (we call him Kiah). I taught at McMurray Middle school for 7 years, and this is my 6th year at Croft. I have a twin sister and we love getting together and seeing the looks we get when we are out and about. People seem to be fascinated by twins, but it's just normal for me!
I also enjoy shopping, watching TV and movies, and I love to travel. I actually have been to Russia, El Salvador, and Mexico twice as a missionary with my church. I also enjoy spending time with my precious baby boy, Hezekiah. He is so curious and into everything! My favorite seaon is the Fall. I think Tennesse has some of the most beautiful trees in the fall. I love the mountains, and visiting East Tennessee. I am a HUGE UT Vols fan, and by marriage an LSU fan (My husband is from Louisiana). I also enjoy watching the Titans play. One of the things my husband and I enjoy doing the most together is to go caving. (the guided tours..not the 'roughing it' tours). We love Ruby Falls, Racoon Mountain Caverns, Cumberland Caverns, and many others. I also enjoy walking and just being outdoors. Two of my favorite places are the gardens at Ellington Agricultural Center and Radnor Lake. Especially in the fall.
Now that you know a little about me, I look forward to getting to know you this year. Please come prepared to work hard, stay on task, and together we will have a great year.
