What Does Our School Offer?

The Academy is a Simon Youth Academy and is a non-traditional school for students 17-21 who would like to earn a high school diploma. The Academy is a school with a rigorous and accelerated curriculum. Students who attend our school may earn two high school credits or more every 10 weeks. We require 22 credits for graduation.

Flexibility & Relevance: The Academy offers two classes each day, and each class is three hours long. Many of our classes are self-paced (meaning that you work at your own pace), project-based and/or competency-based learning environments. What you learn will apply to the real world and your life.

Post-Secondary Focus: At the Academy we are also focused on providing each student with what s/he needs to more on to the next step in their lives after high school,

whether that is college, job training or directly into the work force.

Rigor & Recognition: Students at The Academy are serious about obtaining their high school diplomas. Our students attend school regularly and focus on the work they need to finish and achieve their goals. Each student that enrolls in The Academy is accepted for who they are, recognized as an individual, and feels a sense of belonging in our school community.

What Makes Our School Unique?

Mission: To produce a safe environment in which students are inspired to achieve success through an individualized plan that leads to graduation. Our goal is to develop productive citizens and celebrate their successes.

There are two Academies, one in the Hickory Hollow Mall and the other on the west side of town at Old Cockrill. The Academies provide an opportunity for students who have had or are having difficulty finishing school in a traditional setting. We serve students who need eight or fewer credits to graduate. No student should attend The Academy for more than one year.

The Academy is located inside the Hickory Hollow Mall across from the food court. Being in a mall offers our students great opportunities for authentic learning, especially when it comes to retail and entrepreneurship.

Any students wishing to attend one of the Academies must complete and submit an application. Once applications are reviewed, students that meet the minimum requirements are invited to attend an interview.

All students at The Academy are treated like adults, and we expect adult behavior from all of our students.
