Elaine Fahrner, principal at The Academy at Old Cockrill, is showing support for flood victims in a slightly different way from her fellow Nashvillians. She’s opened the school’s A+ Labs and invited students to come study. Students enrolled at The Academy at Old Cockrill received a call Monday night from Fahrner saying the school was in good condition and the doors were open if any wanted to come work. According to Fahrner, “I knew that many of them were desperate to get back to school and finish their work. With schools closed for the entire week, I knew it could really set them back. So I figured if I was here, I might as well invite them to join me. And several have.”
While most of her students rely on bus transportation, several have taken her up on the offer. Fahrner will continue offering the A+ Labs until schools reopen. She’s now opening her offer to all MNPS high school students.
