MNPS's AVID coordinators held a district-wide AVID Senior Commitment Night Tuesday, May 10. More than 250 people arrived at Rocket Town, a local youth outreach facility in the heart of downtown Nashville, to celebrate graduation and the commitments these AVID seniors have made to attend universities after graduation. The ceremony was opened by Dr. Sharon Chaney, District Director of MNPS AVID, and was followed by a few words from each school’s site coordinator. The highligh of the night came when students were recognized and Shoney’s Corporation representatives Debbie Campa and Rico Howard announced more than $67,000 worth of scholarships awarded to MNPS AVID seniors!
Metro Nashville Public Schools is very proud of all of the AVID graduates, and we look forward to hearing about the successes they will most definitely achieve in college.
