  • Children learn best in a positive atmosphere where they feel safe, accepted, and respected.
  • Instruction must be aligned with district and state standards and challenge students to think critically and to develop problem solving skills.
  • Instruction must include opportunities to express creativity and to develop strength physically, socially, and emotionally.
  • Instruction must encourage students to develop self-discipline, intrinsic motivation, and accountability for learning.
  • Assessment is essential in determining students’ instructional needs.
  • Staff, parents, and community members must collaborate to establish school policies that protect the learning environment of the school.
  • Instructional decision making is a collaborative process where the needs of all students are considered and addressed.
  • Partnerships among the parents, the community, and the school are essential to student achievement and personal growth.
