“Art al Sol” is a five day visual arts summer camp program. This program is for students who are interested in exploring the visual arts and being challenged with visual arts activities that are not readily available in the art classroom. Students need to be present for the entire five day session. Summer Band Camp

Orchestra Camp

The Orchestra Camp strives to provide a wide variety of camp experiences to enhance the various interests of the attending musicians. Guest instrumentalists and string ensembles are invited to present concert sessions for the students. - LEARN MORE

Online Courses and The Cohn School

MNPS Virtual School's Summer Success Program is offering 20 high school courses this summer for half and full credit. They are open to all MNPS high schoolers and even eighth grades who want a head start. Classes start May 29, and final exams start July 22. Finals exams are July 22-26. All courses will be taken online, but there will be times when you have to actually come to the VirtualSchool at The Cohn School, 4805 Park Avenue in Nashville.

            Bailey STEM Magnet Middle School Summer Academy
June 3 - July 3, 2013

Bailey STEM is collaborating with the Nashville Teaching Fellows to offer this Summer Academy, where Bailey students have priority for enrollment. If there is space available after enrollment, students from other schools are encouraged to register. Students must be currently 4th to 8th graders. Transportation is not provided for students enrolled from other schools.
Our mission is to provide a safe, collaborative, and rigorous learning experience. Scholars will learn in math, science, reading, and writing. The Summer Academy will be an extension of this effort in order to make sure that scholars are prepared to be successful in the next school year. This 
program is free for students.
Time: 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Program: Math, Reading, Writing, and Science will be taught. Programs will be remedial and enriching but will advance scholar achievement Prizes for excellent attendance!

  Summer ENCORE Camp  
Two Sessions: June 3-13; June17-27
                
835 Robertson Academy Rd., Nashville

This is the 25th annual Summer Encore Camp at Robertson Academy. This summer’s theme is Around the World in Eight Days. Encore’s experiential camp integrates language arts, science, social studies, mathematics, art, music, and wellness with creative thinking, critical thinking and real‐world problem solving.
The Camp fee: $225.00 for a two-week session (8-days, M-TH). Fee covers materials, local field trip transportation and admissions, and special treats. Some field trips may require additional fees.
Phone registration will not be accepted; however, registration forms may be faxed to 615‐333‐5178 or emailed to
susan.clendenen@mnps.org. For more information, parents should contact Ms. Clendenen at 333-5175 ext 2000.
Once the Encore Office receives your registration, your child will be assigned a registration number. We will email your child’s registration number. No payment is required prior to submitting the registration form. Please keep a copy of your registration letter  and form in your child’s educational file. For bookkeeping purposes, the Encore Office must have a separate registration
form for each child.

 

  Lady Burro Volleyball Camp  
June 3-6
                
Hillsboro High School, 3812 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville

Girls of all ability levels are welcome to attend. The camp, from 9 a.m. to noon, will focus on skill development for rising grades 5th-8th.  The fee for the camp is $100 and all parents and guardians must provide transportation to and from the camp.  Pearl-Cohn Summer Studio  
June 17-21
Pearl-Cohn Entertainment Magnet, 904 26th Ave., Nashville

Pearl-Cohn Entertainment Magnet High School will hold a Summer Studio called, Beats, Words & Songs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. In collaboration with Pearl-Cohn's Record Label, writers, artists, and producers will review, edit and polish work in preparation for recording. Participants will then create demo tracks in production teams with the assistance of mentors and musicians.

Participants must be rising 9th,10th, 11th and 12th graders. Priority will go to Pearl-Cohn students.
The Summer Studio application can be found here. The session is free. Applications will be taken on May 24.

Pearl-Cohn Studio's Summer Demo Sessions  
July 15-19

Have you ever wanted to be a music star? Wanted at least 15 minutes of fame? Well, here’s your opportunity to work with some of Nashville’s best producers and musicians in the new state-of-the-art recording studio at Pearl-Cohn Entertainment Magnet High School.

We are offering Free 3-Hour Demo Sessions open to all MNPS students entering Kindergarten through 12 grade in August 2013. This is a chance to record your own music demo of an original or cover song.
To apply, obtain the Demo Session Application & Instructions at www.mnps.org and submit it along with your work sample by Friday, June 20. Ten (10) artists will be chosen by Pearl-Cohn’s record label staff and notified by the June 28.
Applications are also available at Pearl-Cohn and at the MNPS Customer Service Counter.

Lights! Camera! Action!

This popular camp Pearl-Cohn Entertainment Magnet High School is an introduction to the behind-the-scenes world of the video production. Students will experience all facets of video production both in front of and behind the camera including script writing, camera operation, and pre and post production.
Time: 8:30am – 3:30 pm
Who – Rising 7th, 8th & 9th Graders
Any student who will be in the 7th, 8th or 9th grade in the fall of 2013 and has some interest in behind-the-scenes work in the entertain¬ment industry is welcome to submit an application. The student does not need to currently attend a MNPS school, i.e. they may be from a private school or homeschooled, but they must live in Davidson County.

Gra-Mar Cheer Camp   
June 17-21
575 Joyce Lane, Nashville

The Gra-Mar Middle School  is hosting a cheer camp from 9am-3pm. The camp is open to any girl ages 10-14 and/or any current middle school squads. Cost is $80 per participant if you register before May 31, 2013. Cost is $100 thereafter.
All registration forms and payments are due by June 7, 2013. Squads get a 5% discount for full participation. Lunch and snack are provided. Parents must provide transportation to and from camp. Each participant will receive a camp t-shirt. Learn cheers, tumbles, stunts (basic & advanced), and dance routines. Team building activities will also be incorporated. John Early Storytelling Camp 2013  
July 8-12
1000 Cass St., Nashville

This camp caters to students who want to share their voices, entertain audiences, and work on their storytelling skills and style. Emphasis will be placed on reading, writing, choosing, developing, and sharing of stories.

Who: Rising 4th, 5th & 6th Graders
Any student attending Buena Vista Elementary, Robert Churchwell Elementary or John Early Middle, who will be in the 5th or 6th grade in the fall of 2013 is welcome to submit an application. Consider¬ation will be given to students who will be in the 4th grade who demonstrate the maturity and sincere desire to be included in the camp.

Cost
There is no charge for Storytelling Camp 2013. Accepted applicants will be notified in writing.
No Drop-Ins Allowed.
