HFA's Fall Musical - THE WIZARD OF OZ Our Fall Musical this year will be The Wizard of Oz. Shows will be November 3-5 at 7:00PM with a 2:00PM show available on November 5th. Vanderbilt Trick or Treat Drive The Happy Holidays Club is hosting a drive for Vanderbilt Children's Hospital's trick or treat activities. Please bring small puzzles, games, and other activities to be included in the children's trick or treat bags. A bin is located in the front hall by the auditorium. Donations will be accepted through Thursday, 10/27/11, at 3:00PM. Thank you! Fogg Horn Now Available! The new October issue of the Fogg Horn newsletter is now available! We hope you will take a moment to learn more about what is going on with our teachers and students. You may view the Fogg Horn through the Hume Fogg website under Calendar & News or you may pick up a print copy in the school office. Also, new this year is a blog site at https://thefogghorn.wordpress.com/ where we would love to hear your comments about what you're reading. Hume-Fogg Print Pre-Order Deadline Extended Great news for those who have not yet placed their order the Hume-Fogg print celebrating the school's 100th anniversary. The deadline to place a pre-order has been extended until October 31. The 18x24 print will be designed by the Anderson Design Group. Once we get 300 pre-orders, ADG will provide us with a final design. (Click here to view their other works <http://www.spiritofnashville.com>.) Please contact David Smith at davidsmith99@bellsouth.net or 513-5094 for an information sheet and order form. AP TEST FEE: It is time to start turning in AP test fee money. Test fees will once again be $87.00 per test. Free and Reduced Lunch students will pay a reduced cost of $57.00 per test. If you have any questions or need to set up a payment schedule, please contact Mrs. Barnett (susan.barnett@mnps.org) in the Counseling Office. If you are eligible for a refund from last year?s tests, you may apply that amount (when it comes in) toward the cost of this year's tests. All fees must be paid in full by March 30th, 2012. SCHOOL TRIPS: CHINA A trip to China is planned for the summer of 2012. This will be the 5th and final trip .We are going in June for 10 days.The cost is $4025, which includes: airline fares to China (both international and domestic fares while there), hotel costs ( 4 and 5 star hotels), all meals excluding one dinner, and all museum and day trip charges. In addition to the $4025, you will need to submit a payment of $150 for visa, travel insurance, and tips throughout the trip. We will be visiting Beijing (the National theatre, the Beijing opera, and an Acrobatic Show), then off to Shanghai (cruise along the Huangpu River, take a trip on the high-speed train, and visit to the stock market) and finally off to Hong Kong (see Victoria park, a fishing village, have lunch on a floating restaurant, and various river cruises). Of course while in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong will visit the standard places we have visited before including the Great Wall of China, The Temple of Heaven, the Ming Tombs, the Lamma Temple, the Bund, and much more . The deadline for sign up is Oct. 30 and requires a check for half the amount ($2000) made out to Terry Mitchell, co-coordinator for the China trip. The remainder of the fees will be due in January. In order to secure the lowest airfares, it is necessary that we have the first check for $2000. EUROPE Are you interested in visiting England, France or Germany? If so, we have a trip for you! The French and German programs at Hume-Fogg are planning a trip to Europe in July 2012. We will spend 11 days in Europe where students can see London, travel across the English Channel, visit the beaches of Northern France, dine in a Parisian cafe and exploreBerlin. Sports News Swim Team New coaches - Amanda Metacale and Nick Georgiou, both of whom are guards at the Downtown Y. Practices will begin Monday, October 3rd at the Downtown Y.
