Neil Smith Neil Smith--Eighth Grade History

Mr. Smith was born and raised in the Nashville area. He graduated from
Franklin High School. He attended UT Martin, Belmont, Vanderbilt, and
finally graduated from UT Nashville with a B.S. degree in education. His
major was history, and his minor was science. He attended graduate school
at UT Nashville where he worked toward an M.B.A. He loved the management
courses but met a brick wall with the finance courses. He taught for three
years after college, but later started his own custom drapery and upholstery
workroom. He was self-employed for 17 years. His wife, Kim, then inspired
him to teach and coach again in 1996.

Mr. Smith says that God has blessed him beyond measure. He resides
with his wife in the Franklin area. They have three children and eight
grandchildren, all of whom have made him very proud. Mr. Smith says
he is delighted to be at Croft where he teaching geography and 8th grade history.  He is also the chair of the Croft Social Studies Department, and is sponsor of the National Geographic Geography Bee at Croft.   In addition, he and his wife have become involved in a Latin American program through Vanderbilt.
