Students of Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools are required to be legal residents of Davidson County. A child's legal residence is defined as the legal residence of the legal parent. This residence is the place where the legal parent dwells permanently, not temporarily, and is the place that is the center of his or her domestic, social, and civic life. A temporary residence of the legal parent in Davidson County will not constitute a legal residence. Only one legal residence can be claimed by a person or family. If a legal residence rests on a parcel of land crossed by county boundaries, the legal residence is considered to be the county in which the residence is taxed.
