A Note from Dr. Joseph
I am looking forward to this new school year. While we have much work to continue to do as we strive to become the fastest-improving school district in America, we can feel good about the great work staff did last year to support children and families.
Nationally, there has been an increase in sexual harassment allegations. I want to reiterate that MNPS expects all employees to follow our school district’s sexual harassment policy. All staff and students have the right to work in an environment free from sexual harassment, and we investigate all claims that are brought to our attention by victims.
If you have been harassed or if there have been instances where you have received unwanted, inappropriate comments or physical touch, you should report it to your immediate supervisor or human resources. You can also call our third-party anonymous hotline: 877-647-3335.
You have our commitment:
- Allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation or other misconduct are reported to Human Resources.
- Human Resources provides a prompt response to any and all allegations. Specifically a thorough investigation is conducted, inclusive of interviews and review of relevant evidence in each case.
- Findings are disclosed to appropriate parties.
- Corrective measures are implemented, as warranted.
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to speak with all principals and central office supervisors at our first Administrative and Supervisory meeting of the 2018-2019 school year. I shared with them my expectation for value-driven leadership within MNPS.
Your leaders should:
- Possess integrity
- Do what is right
- Be honest and trustworthy
- Not gossip
- Not listen to gossip
- Not harm others
- Speak out against wrong
- Honor others who walk in truth
- Keep their word even when it costs them
- Not be greedy to gain at the expense of others
- Not take bribes against anyone
- Be strong and stable
These values are consistent with MNPS’ stated core values, and we will continue to work to ensure that you experience a work environment that values your voice, your perspective and your expertise.
