Kindergarten Registration Opens January 26

Kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 school year begins Monday, January 26. Our schools welcome families living in Davidson County with children turning 5 years old before August 16, 2026.
MNPS Kindergarten classrooms create engaging learning environments where students feel supported from day one. Experienced and passionate teachers help students develop confidence, curiosity and the foundational skills that prepare them for long-term success.
With 70 elementary schools in the district, families can choose to enroll their child in their neighborhood school or select a school outside their zone through the school options process.
The deadline to apply to an optional school and be included in the Selection Day process is February 6. Families are encouraged to begin the enrollment process early to ensure a smooth start.
Registration Requirements
Kindergarten registration is required for all students, including those participating in the school options process or currently enrolled in an MNPS Pre-K program. Current MNPS Pre-K families can easily enroll in kindergarten through their Campus Parent Portal by reviewing existing documents and uploading their child’s Tennessee immunization record. Students new to MNPS can register online or at an enrollment center.
Documents Required for Kindergarten Registration
- Record of Birth (birth certificate, passport, visa, I-94)
- Children must turn 5 years old before August 16, 2026
- Tennessee Immunization Record
- Proof of a Physical
- Proof of Davidson County Residency
- Parent/Guardian Photo ID

- Contact the school or schools you are interested in to learn if they offer tours. Some schools have tour sign-up forms on their websites.
- The Metro Schools Pre-K application period will open March 2.
