Together 4 Teachers Celebrates Teachers' Achievements and Impact

It was all smiles during the fifth annual Together 4 Teachers Pep Rally held at Geodis Park on Monday in partnership with PENCIL.

Teachers were greeted by the Tennessee Titans’ drumline, “The Blue Crew,” and a host of mascots as they entered a fun-filled concourse featuring caricature drawings, T-shirt making, photo booths, and more. Giveaways ranging from sports jerseys to round-trip airline tickets were raffled off as teachers enjoyed a meal catered by Hattie B’s.

Teachers also walked away with bags full of free school supplies, courtesy of PENCIL. Christiane Buggs, former MNPS school board member and President and CEO of PENCIL, emphasized the organization’s dedication to educators, noting that it donates over $3 million worth of supplies annually.

This event highlighted PENCIL and MNPS’s continued commitment to celebrate and support Nashville teachers.

“It is important for us to recognize each and every one of you, because the impact that you’ve had has been tremendous,” MNPS Superintendent Dr. Adrienne Battle said.

Highlighting the historic achievements made by the district during the past school year, Dr. Battle commended teachers on their dedication to MNPS students.

“Thank all of you wonderful educators," she said. "You all are on my heart – you inspire me to be the educator that I am today.”

The district has achieved record-high graduation rates and increases in student proficiency levels in every content area – even surpassing pre-pandemic levels.

Mayor Freddie O’Connell acknowledged educators’ impact, saying, “We know this wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for all of the learning opportunities that you all are creating in your classrooms.”
