Career-Based Learning Jobs for Students

Employment for Metro Students

Imagine being a student of MNPS while also being employed in your career pathway. Through our MNPS Career-Based Learning program, students can earn up to 3 credits while also earning an average of $15.00 an hour.

Career-Based Learning is a proactive approach to bridging the gap between high school and high-demand, high-skill careers in Tennessee. Students can build on classroom-based instruction to develop employability skills that prepare them for success in postsecondary education and the workforce.

“What I’m learning in school is what I’m applying here,” Braylon Gann, a graduate of John Overton High School’s Mechanical, Engineering, and Plumbing program – part of the Academy of Engineering – said during his senior year while working 16 hours a week at Enterprise Solutions, an electrical subcontractor with many projects in Nashville and around the country. “I’m trying to be a wet sponge and soak up everything.”
