Exceptional Education

Metro Nashville Public Schools, in collaboration with families and the community, hold high expectations for each student and strive to provide supportive environments that foster a healthy development of the whole child.

Through rigorous standards, effective differentiated instruction, increasingly intensive interventions, and supports to meet individual needs, we believe all students will have the skills necessary to succeed.

All MNPS schools provide a continuum of services and intervention supports in physical, academic, behavioral, personal development, and adaptive skill areas depending on the individual needs of each student.

Child Find

In accordance with Tennessee state law and Child Find obligations, MNPS strives to identify, locate, and evaluate any student who is suspected of having a disability who may need specialized instruction, intervention, and/or related services. For more information, visit our Child Find page.

Pre-Kindergarten

Exceptional Education services for Pre-K students includes developmental learning centers, blended Pre-K classrooms, self-contained classrooms, and more.

If your child is 3 to 4 years old, check the  MNPS Early Learning website for more information on our district's early childhood programs.

Early Childhood Education

MNPS partners with parents. Our district is inclusive, and we take a holistic approach to early childhood education, knowing that all children grow and develop at different rates.

If you suspect your child has a disability, please read the exceptional education information for Pre-K families or call our office at 615-687-4551.

Transition Services

Transition Services prepare students for life after they graduate. Metro Schools offers students, ages 14 to 21, a team of experienced professionals and step-by-step planning to create goals and a pathway for life after high school.

Learn more about Transition Services for your student.

The program also relies on businesses and organizations to provide partnership and places where students can practice their skills.
