Practical Experience: Bridging Theory and Practice

At MNPS, you will immerse yourself in real-world applications of your training. We focus on integrating your academic knowledge into everyday practice, allowing you to engage in data-based decision-making within a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework. You will have the opportunity to apply evidence-based practices, witness their implementation, and adapt strategies to meet the unique needs of students, enhancing your ability to contribute meaningfully to their success.

Comprehensive Training: Essential Skills for School Psychology

Our program is structured to help you refine your skills in evaluating interventions and improving student outcomes. Adhering to the required rotations established by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), we ensure you gain a well-rounded experience across different areas of school psychology, including:

Crisis Intervention: Training in the NASP PREPaRE model to equip you with essential skills for managing crisis situations effectively.
Autism Assessment: Exposure to the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), deepening your understanding of autism spectrum disorders.
Literacy Interventions: Specialized training in evidence-based strategies for reading acquisition, including support for students with dyslexia and specific learning disabilities.
Culturally Responsive Practices: Opportunities to work with English Learners, gaining insights into effective interventions for students from diverse backgrounds.
Data-Driven Decision-Making: Learn to analyze academic and behavioral data to inform effective interventions.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Take on roles within teams that promote collaboration among educators and mental health professionals.

This comprehensive training prepares you for effective practice and empowers you to make a tangible impact in the lives of students.

Mentorship and Supervision: Tailored Support for Your Growth

You will receive consistent, hands-on supervision designed to support your professional development. Paired with experienced licensed psychologists as your primary supervisors, you’ll benefit from personalized guidance tailored to your individual interests and career goals.

In addition to at least two hours of direct supervision each week, you will participate in weekly didactic training sessions focused on essential topics relevant to your growth as a school psychologist. These sessions will include:

Real-World Case Consultations: Engage in discussions about actual cases you encounter, allowing you to gain insights and feedback from experienced practitioners.
Professional Development Workshops: Topics may include ethical decision-making, effective communication with families, and navigating school systems.
Collaboration Skills Training: Develop strategies for working effectively with teachers, parents, and interdisciplinary teams.

This supportive structure ensures that you develop confidence and competence in addressing diverse student needs while fostering your professional identity.

Diverse Educational Settings

As an intern, you will gain invaluable experience working with students from various backgrounds, including many English Language Learners (ELLs). Our training emphasizes culturally responsive practices, equipping you with the skills to adapt interventions and advocate for equity in education.

To apply for the EdS internship, please submit your application by [specific deadline]. Required materials include:

Letters of Recommendation
- Three letters of recommendation, preferably one from your program director.
Resume
- An updated resume or curriculum vitae highlighting your relevant experiences.
Letter of Interest
- A detailed letter explaining your motivation for joining the program.
Graduate Transcripts
- Copies of your graduate transcripts reflecting your academic achievements.
Biography
- A 1–2-page biography providing insight into your background and aspirations.
