What are you doing next Tuesday at 9:10 in the morning? I know what I’ll be doing... reading at my desk.
More than 40,000 students in 80 Metro schools will “Drop Everything and Read” next Tuesday morning for Read Me Week. Thanks to the Nashville Public Library and the Limitless Libraries program, these schools will simultaneously stop classes and read for 20 minutes.
Every year Read Me Week celebrates the life of Dr. Seuss and the love of reading he inspired. This year the Library has turned it into a major event with prizes on the line. Schools with the highest levels of participation could win up to $1,000 for their libraries.
Tennessee’s First Lady Crissy Haslam will drop everything and read, too, reading to kids at Bellevue Middle. So really there’s no reason why you can’t join us. If 40,000 students and our First Lady can drop everything and read, you should too.
Take a picture of yourself reading at 9:10 a.m. next Tuesday and post it to Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #NashvilleDEAR.
