MLK student going abroad thanks to a national award
The hits keep coming from MLK Magnet. The latest piece of good news is about a young Francophile who will be winging it to a foreign country over the summer thanks to a major national award. The World Language Department of Martin Luther King Jr., Academic Magnet School (MLK) and Ms. Weaver, sponsor of MLK’s French Honor Society, are pleased to announce that junior K. Caviness has won an American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) French Honor Society 2013 Travel Award.
She’s one of just ten students to receive this award this year. She will receive $750 toward costs for a study abroad program in a French-speaking country during the summer. The AATF award not only rewards academic excellence and commitment to the study of French, but it serves and validates the strong efforts of MLK’s French learning community.
