Quick Hit: More students, more national honors!

Remember those students from John Early Museum Magnet Middle School who were headed to the Tennessee History Day Competition? Now two of them are headed to the national contest! Eight graders Sarah G. and Rachel H. won first place in all of Tennessee for their documentary project called "The Cherry Mine Disaster: From Tragedy to Reform." In June they will go to College Park, Maryland, for the National History Day competition.

This is the second year in a row for John Early students to go to nationals. Way to go!

All the way across town at Bellevue Middle School, another eighth grader won a National Honorable Mention in the DuPont Challenge Science Essay Contest. Lili R. is the only winner in the state of Tennessee. Her essay was called "Pesticides: Deathly Cause?" and it won her a $200 savings bond.

Just two more reasons why Nashville is on the map for national student achievement.

Congratulations to you all!
