Families travel the world at Hattie Cotton
Families and friends were invited to Hattie Cotton STEM Elementary last night to travel the world. No, really.
Families were given passports to travel through the school and visit each classroom. In class they learned about a different country, and students produced a “steamer trunk” with all of the projects, work and lessons they produced this 9-weeks. Families earned a stamp on their passport for every class they visited.
Hattie Cotton STEM Magnet Elementary students work cooperatively all the time on project-based learning. These discoveries are aligned to the district’s Common Core standards, and allow students to work in teams to create authentic products that highlight their inquiry-based learning experiences.
This 9-week unit was “Friends Far & Near: World Travelers."
