Hume-Fogg, MLK and Stratford make a splash with water research

High school research-scientists-in-training from Hume-Fogg, MLK and Stratford took their hard work to the professionals last week at the Tennessee Water Resources Symposium. BIG congrats to Petra Byl, who won TWO prizes: First place for high school presentations and the People's Choice Award for best research and poster. The latter is not just a high school prize. Petra had to beat out college students to win - and that includes undergrad, masters and doctoral students.


Her paper, by the way, was titled:  Antibiotic Resistance and Substrate Utilization by Bacteria Affiliated with Cave Streams at Different Levels of Mammoth Cave.
