5 ways to prepare for a new year at school
As we all prepare for a successful new year, here are the steps you can take right now - even though schools are closed - to kick off the new year just right. Follow our advice and you'll be that much closer to a happy last day of school.
1. Sign up for Gradespeed. If you’re not already on board with the greatest school tool a parent could ask for, sign up now. Gradespeed lets you track your child’s assignments, grades and attendance online. It’s easy to use and even easier to sign up.

The first step to staying up to date with the happenings at your school is to make sure they know how to reach you. Schools do regular callouts and send letters home. So does the district. If we don’t have your correct contact information, how will you get them?
This is especially important for families involved in the Optional Schools Application process. We’ll send home letters very soon with your Selection Day numbers and enrollment information. Update your information today to make sure you don’t miss them.

4. Check the calendars. As the spring semester starts, go ahead and sneak a look at the end of the year. There’s a lot happening this semester, and you can find nearly all of it on our district and event calendars.
The district calendar has all days off from school, teacher planning days and exam dates. You can even see next year’s district calendar to get a head start on planning. The events calendar has more of the happenings in the district, like parent meetings and student events. It’s updated continuously throughout the year, so bookmark it and keep visiting to stay informed.
5. Call the Customer Service Center for any questions you have about school. That’s right: the Customer Service Center is open right now. If you have any questions about the upcoming semester, call or come by in person to get the answers.
The Customer Service Center should always be the first place you go for big questions about your school and your student. Our Customer Service reps are extremely knowledgeable and know exactly how to get the answers you need. They even share office space with Transportation folks so you can get quick answers to school bus questions.
