The next step in Metro school choice: Selection Day 2014
2013 was a banner year for choice in Metro Schools.
- 84 schools on the Optional Schools Application, including charter schools for the first time
- 16,400 applications (up 4% from 2012)
- 6,400 students applying
- 73% of applications were submitted online
This is real school choice, with thousands of parents and students deciding which school is best for them. In 2012, 80% of students who applied to three or more schools got at least one of their choices. But the opportunity to choose isn’t over yet. Selection Day 2014 is this week.
Parents come to Selection Day to see their acceptance status and start making their final decisions. This year there is even more incentive to come in person: results will be available first at the Martin Center and posted to the website by noon. District staff and school officials will also be on hand to answer questions and talk with parents about making their decisions.
Selection Day 2014 Saturday, January 11 at 9:00 a.m. Martin Professional Development Center 2400 Fairfax Avenue, 37212
