New Principals for Hattie Cotton Elementary and Wright Middle in 2014-15
Leaders bring needed experience and skills to their new schools
Two more Metro Schools will begin 2014-15 with new principals. District leaders have hired two educators with extensive experience in key areas that will serve their new schools well.
Hattie Cotton STEM Magnet Elementary School - Jay Adams Returning to Metro Schools from Grassland Middle School in Williamson County, Ms. Adams brings significant experience to Hattie Cotton. Her extensive work in teacher recruitment, training and professional development will ensure a strong faculty. She also has deep roots in the kind of data and goals oriented culture that will drive quality instruction. Further, her scientific background will enrich the school’s STEM theme. Ms. Adams has a master’s in education administration and supervision, as well as a bachelor’s in biological sciences, both from Tennessee State University.
Wright Middle Prep – Dr. Erin Anderson A former school counselor is the perfect choice to lead students through middle school, a transitional time of life and an especially important academic period. Dr. Anderson has worked in school counseling and student support for most of her career in middle schools and high schools, which ideally positions her to guide the students of Wright Middle Prep. Most recently, she served as principal of the Academy of Health Sciences at Overton High School where she was deeply involved in teacher development and instruction, as well as pushing students toward college and career readiness. Dr. Anderson has a master’s and a doctorate in educational leadership, both from Trevecca Nazarene University. From Tennessee State, she earned a master’s in guidance and counseling and a bachelor’s in psychology.
