“Metro Schools dedicated to becoming the fastest improving urban school district in our nation - and great teachers are the foundation to realizing this vision. In classrooms across this district we have many life-changing moments taking place every single day due to the expertise, commitment, and caring of our great teachers. This Blue Ribbon Teacher recognition program and the support from local leaders give us the opportunity to celebrate and reward stellar teachers who are making a significant difference in teaching and learning for children. I want to encourage our great teachers to apply for this award and thank our community partners who have made this recognition possible.”

- Dr. Shawn Joseph, Director of Schools

“There are so many incredible success stories to tell throughout our schools, and highly capable teachers are at the heart of those stories. The Blue Ribbon Award provides us with an opportunity to honor those contributions. Your nominations will give the city the chance to hear about the work you and your colleagues do each day to improve lives. I am grateful to each of you.”

- David Briley, Mayor of Nashville

“My mom was a public school teacher so I know the kind of commitment teaching takes. I also know what a game changer an extraordinary teacher can be in a student’s life. Our hope is that through the Blue Ribbon Teacher Award we are able to both shine a spotlight on the teaching heroes among us and in turn, lend community support to help make their job a little bit easier.”

- Keel Hunt, Chairman, The Strategy Group
