The Metro Nashville Board of Public Education, Nashville Mayor Freddie O'Connell, and Metro Council have approved the FY26-27 budget, and MNPS is heading into the new school year with a final operating budget that's approximately 4% higher than last year.
The majority of new funding goes straight to the people who make this district run. That means salary steps, health and pension increases, a 1.7% cost-of-living adjustment, stipend increases, and two additional paid workdays for 10-month support staff.
The budget also adds $591,500 for professional learning compensation and $2 million to expand before- and after-care programming.
The salary schedules reflect the district's approved compensation plans for the 2026–27 school year.
