CELEBRATING OUR 2019 VALEDICTORIANS AND SALUTATORIANS
NEARLY A DOZEN WERE FORMER ENGLISH LEARNERS WHO ROSE TO THE TOP OF THEIR GRADUATING CLASS.
This year, more than 4,400 graduates will leave Metro Schools for their next chapter. Metro Schools is excited to send off another group of seniors. Many will graduate with various honors, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Certifications, plans and hopes for the future, including our class of valedictorians and salutatorians. The Class of 2019 valedictorians and Salutatorians are students who have overcome long odds, many study hours and challenging circumstances to rise to the top of their class.
This year's class also includes 11 former English learner - students from Egypt, Iraq, Mexico, Vietnam - who came to this country with their families in search of opportunities, but who didn't speak English when they walked through the doors of their first Metro School. In their time at MNPS, these students have not only mastered English; they have overcome challenges too long to list to become the highest performing students in their class.
Congratulations to all MNPS graduates - we can't wait to see what you do next!
