Visual and Performing Arts
True to our Music City roots, the arts are a key focus in Metro Nashville Public Schools.
The MNPS Visual and Performing Arts Department proudly offers and oversees thriving programs in dance, music, theatre, and visual arts. The creative work in our schools demonstrate every day that the arts are vital to a well-rounded education.
Our talented faculty ensures every student has access to high-quality artistic instruction in the classroom and vibrant experiences with the arts world beyond it. Our programs also benefit from strong support across Nashville’s music industry and from public and private sector partnerships.
Together, we nurture the creative potential of all children and provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their academic, professional, and personal lives.

We Make Music
Our students and music educators collaborated on a district song "Every Student Known," and a documentary about the song's creation.
The documentary won a Midsouth Emmy and also was translated into Spanish in the 2024-2025 school year.
Music Makes Us
The MNPS Department of Visual and Performing Arts proudly administers the district's Music Makes Us initiative, a unique partnership between our district, the Mayor’s Office, and the Nashville community.
Together, we work to provide meaningful support for Nashville’s public school music programs with a goal to increase access, participation and quality of music education for MNPS students.
