Hillwood Campus

A Unified Support Campus for MNPS

The former Hillwood High School campus is becoming a unified support campus for MNPS, designed to serve our landlocked district schools, incubate core initiatives, and improve access to support services for students and staff across the district.

The campus currently supports a range of district needs, including graduation ceremonies, athletics, professional learning and development, and emergency backup capacity. It also serves as the home field location for Hume-Fogg and Martin Luther King, Jr. Academic Magnet high school athletics programs.

Planned Improvements for Hillwood

We have several improvements and additions planned for the campus in the coming years, including:

Early Learning Center (2026-27)

A small, two-classroom Pre-kindergarten program will open at Hillwood for the 2026-27 school year. Our Capital Improvement Budget also includes a plan for a larger Early Learning Center, subject to future city investment.

Support Hub Offices (2026-27)

The campus currently is being renovated to house support hub offices that serve other Metro schools in the area. These spaces will be ready for the 2026-27 school year.

Athletic Facility Improvements (2027-28)

The running track, stands, soccer field, and concessions and restroom facility will be replaced for the 2027-28 school year.

Potential Temporary Site for Westmeade

The campus has also been identified as a potential temporary relocation site during future Westmeade Elementary replacement construction, should the city allocate funding. Westmeade is currently in Year 1 of the Capital Improvement Budget, meaning it is eligible for funding as resources become available, though limited funds and competing priorities are factors in any capital spending plan.

Community Use of Hillwood

The auditorium and several other spaces at Hillwood, located at 400 Davidson Road, are available for approved community use.

Reserving MNPS Schools and Facilities

We value input from our community. At the same time, we are not soliciting proposals for alternative uses of the site as we do not have plans to dispose of this property or discontinue its active use. The campus continues to serve important needs for the district and the broader community.

Updates will continue to be shared at Board of Education meetings, similar to one held on January 13, 2026.
