Student Email

Keeping Students Safe Online

All student email communication is monitored through Bark, a tool designed to help keep students safe and alert staff to potential concerns. MNPS follows all state and federal laws regarding student data and digital safety.

Starting in the 2025–26 school year, we’re updating student email access to build students’ digital citizenship skills — giving them more access as they grow, while keeping their learning environment safe and focused.

What Families Can Expect

Pre-K–Second Grade

  • Students will not have email accounts

Third–Eighth Grade

  • Beginning in Third Grade, students will be assigned an email address (example: student12345@mnpsk12.org).
  • Student email access is limited to MNPS teachers and staff with @mnps.org addresses.
  • They cannot email classmates or email addresses outside of MNPS.
  • They can receive messages from approved educational platforms (like Remind, Schoology, and Canva).
  • Collaboration through tools like Schoology will continue.

Ninth–Twelfth Grade

  • Students are given full access to email, including classmates and approved external contacts.
  • Schoology remains a key tool for communication and collaboration.
