K ready event

Metro Schools is now registering incoming kindergarten students for the 2021-22 school year. The district’s kindergarten classrooms are full of rich learning opportunities that will broaden your child’s horizons and prepare him or her for first grade. kid with telescope

Since school tours and many other in-person opportunities were not available this year, MNPS is offering additional ways for families to ask questions, engage with subject matter specialists, and learn more about kindergarten at MNPS. On April 12, the early learning team will release a series of videos that will share helpful information about kindergarten curriculum, program goals, and student academic support. Families can access these quick videos in their own time to become familiar with their child’s kindergarten program.

After the videos launch, the Early Learning team will host a live chat on April 12 at 4 p.m. for families who have questions about the Kindergarten Preview videos.

We are excited to offer these virtual resources for our families. We hope these videos will give families a look into MNPS’ kindergarten programs to hear firsthand from district specialists about various topics.

Our goal is to have a playlist of videos that will help families learn more about the outstanding services MNPS offers for kindergarten students and their families. We understand how important it is to have a smooth transition to kindergarten, so in addition to the kindergarten preview, MNPS will also host a virtual Countdown to Kindergarten Fair for families to register for kindergarten and to learn more about the services MNPS offers.

Virtual Countdown to Kindergarten Fair

Later in the month from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.April 22, Metro Schoolscountdown to k will host the first-ever virtual MNPS Countdown to Kindergarten Fair. The fair will provide families with information on how to register for kindergarten and apply for Pre-K. The virtual fair will also feature breakout sessions from MNPS departments like Transportation, Exceptional Education, and English Learners, which will provide information to support your child’s transition to kindergarten and an opportunity for families to ask questions.

The fair will wrap up with a special read-aloud presented by Nashville Public Library, which will also be providing literacy tips to help families ready for kindergarten. The event will be live; however, all sessions will be recorded and can be viewed after the event.

Additional details and the link to the event are available on the Early Learning department site
