MNPS is proud to share that Lt. Col. Spencer Taylor, our Executive Director of Nutrition Services, has been named the U.S. Army Reserve’s Nutrition and Dietetics Consultant to the Army's Surgeon General. This prestigious appointment recognizes Lt. Col. Taylor's extensive experience in both nutrition and military service.
For the past 12 years Lt. Col. Taylor, who will continue to serve in his MNPS role, has excelled in leading the team that ensures our students and staff can eat nutritious meals every day. His dual role in the district and the military demonstrates his unwavering commitment to public service.
In his new position, Lt. Col. Taylor will consult with Surgeon General of the Army Lt. Gen. Mary Krueger Izaguirre on dietary and nutritional needs, helping guide nutrition for military personnel. This opportunity will expose him to cutting-edge research and best practices that will further benefit our students and staff as we continue to refine and improve nutrition services for all schools
"We are honored to have the expertise of Executive Director Taylor running our nutrition services and serving the U.S. Army reserves and active military with nutrition planning and delivery," MNPS Chief Operating Officer Maura Black Sullivan said. "And now, as he moves into this even more influential role as consultant to the Surgeon General for dietary and nutritional needs, we know that we will continue to reap greater and greater rewards for our students and staff as he is exposed to more information and evaluation of national (and international) best dietary and nutritional best practices."
Lt. Col. Taylor said he’s glad to be “able to apply my skills interchangeably in my role with Nutrition Services as well as an Army Reserve Clinical Operations Officer, serving both our country and our MNPS community.”
Please join us in congratulating Lt. Col. Taylor for this well-deserved recognition. We look forward to seeing the continued positive impact of his leadership both within MNPS and across the country.
